I put a call out for people to tell me their best animal story and a person who studies the ocean told me a story about observing dolphins playing with pufferfish like they were balls. No pufferfish were harmed in this scene, they just deflated and swam away. I love the way that whales play. Such interesting animals that actually find time between meals and taking care of young to do something else.
While looking up volleyball terms there were a few phases related to the sea as well as to pufferfish in general such as "spike," "flippers," so the title of this piece is "Flippers and Spikes" just imagine a volleyball game, underwater, with a spiky fish as the ball.
