Lego Woodcut
Lego Woodcut
Does anybody else have a kiddo who is absolutely in love with legos? I mean, many of us must or else lego wouldn’t be the giant company that it is.
My 5 year old wanted a piece of art for his birthday and when I asked what he wanted on it he said legos! So I took pictures of some of his creations and made this scene...it’s a collaborative effort. His favorite color is gold so I had to make the best shimmery yellow that I could and print and roll a layer of it.
I have to admit sometimes I get frustrated with legos because they end up under my bare feet or we will have to be somewhere and my kiddo will say “just one more piece...” but most of the time I am grateful for such a fun and I’m going to say collaborative toy that isn’t a screen. So here is my ode to legos, a gift for a child who loves them. And hopefully this piece will end up with other children or adults who also have a great fondness for these plastic locking blocks. (Note the pictures of the legos don’t come with the print but I thought it would be fun to show what I used for reference.)

A great pairing of two woodcuts would be the lego and a hummingbird moth/hummingbird woodcut. They both have lovely lime greens.
